One week after they were abducted, passengers of the Niger State Transport Mass Transit have regained freedom.
Niger Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello announced this on his twitter handle on Sunday afternoon.
The Nation had reported 39 passengers were abducted by bandits on their way from Kontagora to Minna last Sunday.
The Nation learnt the abductees were released on Sunday afternoon in an undisclosed location in Zamfara state.
The abductees were said to be on their way back to Minna at the moment with the Goveror waiting to receive them at the Government House.
This release is coming after renowned Kaduna Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi met with the bandits and promised their release on Sunday or Monday.
