The Government of the State of Osun has said Governor Adegboyega Oyetola dedicates at least two hours daily to the approval of Certificate of Occupancies (C of Os) to scale up provision of housing and create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive.
The Commissioner for Land and Urban Planning, Nathaniel Agunbiade, who disclosed this while reacting to the news making the rounds that Oyetola had not signed any Certificates of Occupancy in close to two years, said the Governor has approved more than 60 duly filed applications so far in 2021.
He added that the present administration had initiated different initiatives to reposition the land and urban planning matters for greater efficiency and quality service delivery.
Part of the initiatives, according to Agunbiade, is the fast tracking of the application process, which can now be concluded in 90 days from the time of application.
Agunbiade stated: “There is a misinformation making the rounds that the Governor has not signed any C of O in the last one-and-half year. This is a blatant lie which must have been orchestrated by mischief makers.
“This year alone, the Governor has signed over 60 Certificates of Occupancy, and even recently, he took it upon himself to set aside two hours of his day to attend to pending applications for C of O. By doing this, he has increased the number and quantity of processed applications.
“At least, in the last one-and-half year, Governor Oyetola would have signed not less than 200 applications.
“This administration has also rejuvenated the waiting time for the issuance of C of O, so that if you put in an application with all your papers complete, you will get your duly signed C of O from Mr Governor in about 90 days.
“Last week, I still took delivery of C of O already signed by Mr Governor. So, it is not true that he has not been signing C of O. We implore the entire populace to disregard the fake news. All what we have said are verifiable from the Ministry of Lands and Urban Planning”, Agunbiade stated.
