Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo has undergone a medical ahead of a proposed move to newly promoted English Premier League club Watford, from Stoke City, The PUNCH reports.
The Nigeria international spent last season on loan at Turkish club Galatasaray, where he made 29 appearances across all competitions.
The details of the contract are yet to be made known as at the time of filing this report, but a close source to the player told our correspondent that the 25-year-old will sign a permanent deal with the Hornets.
“It is true he (Etebo) has gone through his routine medicals at Watford but let’s wait for more official details about the deal, and that will be soon. It’s not a loan move,” our source said.
Should the deal be completed in the coming days, Etebo will become the fifth Nigerian at the club after William Troost-Ekong, Isaac Success, Tom Dele-Bashiru and Emmanuel Dennis.
Etebo had on Wednesday expressed uncertainty over his future at Stoke City ahead of the new season in an interview with The PUNCH.
He said, “For now, I have a contract with them (Stoke City) and we will see how it goes. I can’t decide that now because I still have to speak with the coach before making a decision on my future.
“I don’t know if I will be back at Galatasaray for next season or join a new team. The window is still open and anything can still happen.”
The midfielder is currently valued at €3.2m by Transfermarkt.
