An unspecified number of corps members have sustained injuries following the collapse of a hostel wall at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Ise-Emure, Ekiti.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred on Friday morning when the bathroom wall of a female hostel gave way, injuring corps members who were preparing to take their baths.
The injured individuals, currently participating in the three-week compulsory orientation for the one-year national youth service, were promptly taken to the camp clinic for medical treatment.
In response, the NYSC management has urged calm and assured the public that the situation is being managed.
The NYSC management, in a statement posted on its official handle on X (formerly Twitter), @officialnyscng, on Friday, said: “Management wishes to inform the general public about the collapsed convenience that occurred in the early hours of today, Friday 12th July 2024, at Ekiti State Orientation Camp in Ise-Orun, Emure Ekiti, that the situation is under control.”
