Super Eagles coach Finidi George has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to secure a decisive victory against the Benin Republic Cheetahs in the upcoming 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
Nigeria currently holds fifth place in Group C after drawing their initial matches against South Africa, Lesotho, and Zimbabwe.
In a pre-match statement, Finidi emphasized that the team is highly motivated and has taken valuable lessons from their draw with South Africa, positioning them well for a strong performance against Benin Republic.
He said, “We are going to approach the game with every seriousness. The match against South Africa, that is gone. We have learnt from it. We just have to get ourselves to have that fantastic second half that we had [against South Africa].
“If we can start that way tomorrow [now today], I think we have a chance.”
The game will be played at the Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, Ivory Coast, at 5 p.m. (Nigerian time).
