The wife of the All Progressives Congress Youth Leader in Oyo State, Aderiyike Oni-Salawu, has regained her freedom.
Our correspondent could not ascertain if ransom was paid before she was freed by her abductors after spending almost nine days in captivity.
The former spokesperson of the APC in Oyo State, Mr Olawale Shadare, told our correspondent on Monday that the woman had been freed.
He said, “She was released in the early hours of today.”
The woman was kidnapped while trying to open the gate to her residence at around 10.20pm on Sunday, May 23 at the Aromolaran Area of Ibadan.
Oni-Salawu was said to have closed from the hospital where she works at around 10pm and was driving home in an ambulance while her husband who was driving his personal car was following her.
The woman was said to have gotten out of the vehicle and was trying to open the gate when the hoodlums swooped on her and whisked her away. The husband was, however, lucky as he escaped from the gunmen.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Mr Adewale Osifeso, could not be reached immediately to speak on the development.
