…Pledge to work for return of APC to govt come 2026
With pomp, pageantry and grandeur as the Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority, NIWA, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji warmly received the ecstatic members of the ruling party in the state – Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Action Democratic Party, ADP as well as estranged APC members from the Omoluabi Progressives Osun, OPO’s camp, an infinitesimal fraction within the main opposition party in the state returned to the mainstream APC.
The ancient town of Ikire, the headquarters of Irewole Federal Constituency was agog as the defectors from the Local Government and its environs stormed the town to publicly denounce their former political parties as they pitched a tent with the ruling party in the country.
This is even as the decampees attributed their defection to the wonders being performed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in redefining, restructuring andv taking the country to the path of socioeconomic and political stability and sustainability as manifested in his track records thus far, as well as the innate philanthropic gestures of NIWA MD, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, which had impacted tremendously in the lives of many in the state and beyond.
The defectors pledged their allegiance to the party and assured to work in unison with the existing loyalists to ensure all round victories for the party in the future elections most especially in the forth coming 2026 governorship election in the state saying “our motive is to ensure that APC returns to power in 2026 in our dear state and win future elections”
Irewole is the Local Government of the incumbent Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Lere Oyewumi of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.
The venue of the event which was filled to the brim amidst rousing welcome from the ecstatic party supporters, had in attendance the leadership and members of the party from the Council led by NIWA MD, Oyebamiji who was accompanied by his wife, Dr. Sekinat Oyebamiji as well as Irewole LG APC Chairman, Hon. Arimyau Owoade; Alhaji Asifat Akinola Omotuntun, among other party stalwarts.
Revealing some of the reasons that prompted their defection, the decampees noted that they were inspired to dump their former party and join APC in view of the avowed commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to his Renewed Hope Agenda that had given birth to myriad of developmental strides as manifested in the ongoing reforms across sectors of the economy in the country.
The defectors who couldn’t hide their feelings on their convictions to join the progressive family said “the humanitarian services being rendered by Mr. Oyebamiji were incontrovertible testimonial to associate with the party as we all know the countless number of people that had in one way or the other benefitted immensely from his kind gestures, endless and boundless benevolence.”
The leader of the Atunto group in Irewole Local Government under the leadership of Prince Dotun Babayemi that recently defected into APC, Alhaji Alimi expressed delight to return home, noting that his return to the progressive party is a clarion call to duty. Alhaji Alimi who recounted his ordeals while in the PDP noted that “it is only in the progressive party i achieved meaningful things in my life despite being with PDP for quite a while”
Addressing the enthusiastic mammoth crowd, the State APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal exalted God for increasing the progressive family daybyday just as he expressed his excitement in the fact that the party has been waxing stronger day-in-day-out.
“I am delighted seeing hundreds of the people coming into our fold. This is a sign of victory as we are determined to collectively build a virile party that all of us can be proud of in victory. The defection of large number of people from other political parties further testifies to the fact that our party is not only expanding its coast but also becoming more stronger and formidable as we are resolute to return to government come 2026 in Osun and as well coast to victories in all the future elections”, he said.
In his short remarks, Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, extolled the defectors for being resolute and steadfast in defecting and returning to progressive party known for genuine manifestos, innate internal democracy, democratic tenets and ideals.
Oyebamiji assured the defectors of equal treatment and opportunity in all strata saying “your coming into the party has definitely opened window for thousands to follow suit as we await them soon”, Oyebamiji assured.
Some of the decamped leaders are: Mr Bolarinwa Mubasiru Olupo from Ward 07, Mr. Oyebanji Ojo from Ward 04, Mr. Olaniyan Aliyu and Mrs. Agunbiade Musifa.
The colourful event also had in attendance Ikire Chiefs and Baales from Akire palace; Lekki LCDA Chairman from Lagos State, Hon.Rasaq Bamidele Kasali; Hon. Tewogbade Aliu; Hon. Akeem Oladeni Badru; Osun APC state Youth Leader, Comrade Goke Akinwemimo among others.
