Johnson Okafor, fondly known as Mr. Ibu, the veteran comedic actor of Nollywood, succumbed to a prolonged illness yesterday, marking the end of his remarkable journey at the age of 62.

The news of his hospital discharge in Lagos, where he received extensive treatment, was shared by a family representative, expressing gratitude for the unwavering support and prayers from the public during their trying times.
“We called on good Nigerians and we are very grateful for the response in every aspect most especially the donations. It came in very timely and very helpful.
“So far, Daddy has gone through five successful surgeries, and he is still recovering in the ICU. Daddy is immensely grateful and we are thankful to the general public during this phase of our lives.”
