Leicester City Football Club has confirmed the departure of head coach Steve Cooper following a string of disappointing performances, culminating in a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in their most recent Premier League outing.

Appointed during the summer, Cooper successfully led Leicester back to the Premier League with an impressive 97-point campaign in the Championship. However, the team has struggled to adapt to the rigors of top-flight football, currently sitting 16th in the league standings.

The former Nottingham Forest and Swansea City manager was at the helm for only 14 matches, securing just four victories. Announcing the decision in an official statement on X (formerly Twitter), the club said:

“We have parted company with Steve Cooper, who leaves his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect.”

In addition to Cooper, assistant manager Alan Tate and First Team Coach and Analyst Steve Rands, both of whom joined the club’s coaching setup in the summer, have also been relieved of their duties.

The club has named Ben Dawson as interim head coach, with support from Danny Alcock and Andy Hughes, while a search for a permanent replacement gets underway. Leicester City now faces a critical phase as it works to stabilize its performance and secure its place in the Premier League.
