Seven days after protesting youths had shut down the Eleme section of the East-West Road over its deplorable condition, the protest has been suspended.
The executive chairman of Eleme Local Government Area, Obarillomate Ollor, announced the suspension while speaking to newsmen at the Trailer Park in Onne, Eleme LGA on Sunday afternoon.
Ollor said the suspension followed a firm commitment by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, to immediately commence reconstruction of the road.
