There was tension in Modakeke on Saturday when a 55-year-old woman, identified as Iya Elekuru was murdered by a yet-to-be-identified person.
It was gathered that the woman was lured to a house and killed by unidentified persons while hawking at Ogbingin area, Ile-Ife around 10:50am on Saturday,
The deceased head and hands were cut off and taken away by the suspects.
Some angry youths have burned the building where the corpse of the woman was found.
The spokesperson of the Osun State Police Command, SP Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident.
She said that the state’s commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode has opened an investigation into the case.
“The remains of the deceased was released for the victim’s son for immediate burial according to Islamic rites.”
